Transforming Charity Operations with Energy Cost Savings

Welcome To The Children’s Respite Trust

The charity sector is very close to my heart, having worked for a non-profit in Minneapolis, USA for a number of years. Working in this sector, I know that every penny counts, so when I found out that The Children’s Respite Trust were overpaying on their energy bills, I knew I would be able to review their situation and act quickly.

The Charity

The Children’s Respite Trust, based in East Sussex, improves the lives of children with profound learning and physical disabilities by providing short breaks and respite care. Keeping their operational costs to a minimum is essential for maintaining these vital services.

The Challenge

I connected with Gavin Fisher, Chief Executive at Children’s Respite Trust, through a referral from one of its Trustees. The charity was on out-of-contract variable rates with Utility Warehouse, resulting in significant overpayment.

Commercial properties out of contract typically pay 70% more, and with Utility Warehouse no longer offering commercial contracts, the situation required urgent attention.

The Solution

After gathering all the necessary information, I put the charity’s details on my portal and, with the help of my colleague Jack, we negotiated a new contract with a supplier. This new agreement promised substantial savings, ensuring a minimum annual reduction of £7.6k in energy costs.

The Impact

The significant reduction in overheads allowed The Children’s Respite Trust to redirect these funds towards enhancing their services and support for families in need.

Gavin Fisher, Chief Executive at Children’s Respite Trust, shared his satisfaction with the outcome:

“The savings we’ve achieved thanks to Sally and her colleagues will have a huge impact for us. With the £7.6k saved annually, we can allocate more resources directly towards our mission of providing crucial respite care. The difference this makes to the families we support is immeasurable. We are incredibly grateful for the expertise and swift action taken on our behalf.”

Conclusion

The Children’s Respite Trust is a beacon of hope for families with children who have profound learning and physical disabilities, offering them much needed breaks to help cope with the daily strains. It was our greatest pleasure to be able to reduce their overheads, allowing them to focus more on their life changing work. For more information visit https://www.crtcharity.org/
